PAGE 42

 A. Study figure 1 on the opposite page.
1. What does it show? Three brands offered by a travel agent.
2. Where do you think the information has come from? Surveys, observation, market research etc.

B. Listen to some extracs from a seminar about market mapping.
1. What is wrong with contribution of the last speaker in each case? Choose from the following:

  • it is relevant 1
  • the student interrupts 5
  • the student doesn't contribute anything to discussion 3
  • it is not polite 2
  • the student doesn't explain the relevance 4
2. What exactly does the student say, in each case? Leila is pretty mature and does the searching on internet, that's what we are supposed to do when we want information. Majed is the one that sounds not pretty sure about the situation. Evie and Jack are careless about it.
3. What other ways do you know of saying the same things? I would say that first of all I'll search in the internet and then write and get to know the information i got from there and write them down. I would talk to the operator very interested.

C. 1.

  • by making clear how the point is relevant 5
  • by bringing in another speaker 1
  • by asking for clarification 2
  • by paraphrasing to check understanding 4
  • by giving specific examples to help explain a point 3

2. Each one of them are talking about the market map and the tour operator prices. They are clearing up their information and I can see that they are using the vocabulary :)
3. I would just simply watch videos about it and explain it to my classmates.

 D.
DO'S                                                                       DONT'S
ASK POLITELY FOR INFORMATION                                      DEMAND INFORMATION FROM OTHER STUDENTS
LISTEN WISELY  TO THE OPINIONS FROM OTHERS       NEVER A BAD ATTITUDE TOWARDS OTHER OPINIONS
COLLECT INFORMATION FROM THE INTERNET           GIVE OUT INFORMATION WITHOUT SOURCES
MAKE A CHART OF PROS AND CONS                                 ACT LAZY TOWARDS A TEAM WORK

E.
1. Study the images
2. To put them on the market map, I would put child aduct economy and luxury. Then I would clasify each one of them.

For example:

 -LUXURY: PINE TREES
-CHILD: AGS JUNIOR GOLF CAMP
-ADULT: BEAUFORT GOFL BREAKS
-ECONOMY: PROBABLY BEAUFORT GOLF BREAKS
And of course explain each one of them.

3. Seminar.

What I've learned this week

We made powerpoint presentations to our classmates and teacher about the different types of tourism, and they were so pretty. I presented cultural tourism which is pretty interesting because is the #1 reason why people travel all around the world. Cultural tourism is amazing because you can get to explore new cultures of the world, and monuments. We also learned the hospitality outlets like freestanding businesses which is pretty cool. We worked in our pronouciation because I get confused sometimes. Also we learned how to use the words correctly in context like the transitive and intransitive verbs.
